A Cowboy, Candy Corn Cookies and a Bowl Full of Candy!

Yay, Halloween is here!  And this cowboy is ready for the day! All dressed up for pre-school as a Cowboy/Sheriff - he is ready to play Halloween games, decorate his candy corn sugar cookie and make sure everyone plays nice and say, "Excuse me ma'am I'm gonna have to check that candy for gluten." ;)

                                              For their special treat at school today, Jack needed a sugar cookie in shape of a candy corn.  So we whipped up Pamela's Products sugar cookie recipe using her White Cake Mix and they turned out fabulous! We made a few adjustments to the recipe, but I was happy with the texture and taste and so was Jack!

Besides the fabulous cookies, we are ready for a great night of trick or treating with our friends and neighbors and have a bowl FULL of gluten-free candies to share! This also gives Jack a chance to trade any of his gluten candies he may get, like Whoppers, Twix, KitKats, Crunch, etc. from trick or treating.

Pumpkins, Hayrides & Gluten-Free Halloween Candy!

Yay! My favorite time of year is here!  The Tennessee weather has been fabulous so far - upper 70s and sunny! Well, until today, the weather as taken a turn, it's now chilly and rainy, but for the most it's been awesome fall weather.

Jack at the Pumpkin Patch!

Not only is the weather fabulous, but it's the activities that I love so much this time of year.  Going to the pumpkin patch, tailgating at football games, watching the trees change colors, wearing jeans and flip flops, and picking out Halloween costumes!  

This year, Jack wants to be a cowboy for Halloween!  I thought for sure he would want to be Scooby Doo, but he wants to be a cowboy for sure! So as Halloween approaches and we get the final touches for the costumes, we also have to think about CANDY!! Yes, the best part of Halloween - coming home after Trick or Treatin' and dividing up the candy and trading with your sibling or stealing your favorite behind their backs (not that I ever did that)!

With that said, it's important to have a list of gluten-free candies that are safe for your kiddo to eat.  I remember last year, walking up to our neighbors' doors with the kids, I would watch what candy was put into Jack's bag, so I could grab it before he did or I would think, "Okay, he can't have that."

So like every other day in your child's gluten-free life, Halloween is no different, you must plan ahead.  

So Here's a Few Tips to Making Halloween Fun 
and Gluten-Free Easy:     
                                     

• Have a List of Gluten-Free Candy on hand

• Before Trick or Treating, tell your children that you plan to go through the candy when they return home, just to make sure everything is safe to eat.

• Lastly, have a gluten-free stash of candy at home so your child can replace any candies from his trick or treat bag that are not gluten-free with some gluten-free favorites!

We are looking forward to Halloween, not just for the candy, but to dress-up, to visit with our neighbors, and to have a fun family night.

Now the real question is, will my lil' cowboy share some candy with his mamma?? HE BETTER! ;)
